Blackpool Magic Convention

The Southern Sorcerers at BlackpoolThe Southern Sorcerers just have returned from a fabulous weekend at the Blackpool Magicians Convention.  John, Ian, Mitch, Chris, Loki, Allan and Alan all joined over 3000 other magicians at what is probably the worlds biggest and best magic convention.

Click here to see some more photos from the convention.

Colin unfortunately could not go this year and so spent most of the weekend at home being miserable.

Blackpool 2007

The Southern Sorcerers at BlackpoolEvery year the Blackpool Magicians Club holds a magic convention – probably the worlds biggest and best magic convention in the world.  With amazing acts from all over the world it is a chance to meet other magicians, learn a few new tricks and see some incredible magic.

The Southern Sorcerers regularly attend this event, a real highlight of the year, and this year nearly all of us were able to go.

Here are a few photos from the 2007 convention:

Magic Night – 09/02/2007

This magic night started on a high when Ian decided to put a new twist on the brass dice trick. The dice had the six ESP symbols etched on each side and was inserted into a brass tube. The magician divines the symbol on the top through the brass lid using his psychic powers alone. Of course you could expect to get this right by chance alone one in six times, Ian defied the odds and got it wrong 7 out of 7 times! Incredible.

Next Shelly treated us to a selection box of exotic nibbles ” A Taste of the Orient”. Unfortunately my taste of the orient was wood shavings held together with candle wax and once we had all spat our tasty nibbles in the bin, normal service was resumed.

By “normal” I mean that Allan decided to apply fanning powder to his new version of Rainbow Cascade. This involved dumping the cards into a large plastic bag full of baby powder and shaking vigorously. Ommitting to seal the top of the bag plunged us all into a temporary fog which added some atmosphere to the evening.

Allan was on a roll and proceded to pull many new mysteries out of his carrier bag, including his latest miracle, the colour changing casino chips, a good trick made even better by a light dusting of fanning powder.

Colin did some knuckle busting card stuff which made us all wish we had paid more attention at last years Blackpool lectures. There was also much talk was of this years exodus to Blackpool, now only 2 weeks away.
